Description

Children who experience behavioral and emotional deviation are called children with Emotional and Behavioral Disorder (EBD). The incident of suffering from EBD in school-age children in the world is ranked third, while in Indonesia in 2014 approximately 60% of EBD incident was experienced by school-age children. The result of survey and interviews in the location of research in children with the age of 10 – 11 yearswas found in the data that they often hit their friends, easily get angry when asked, steal, bully, be undisciplined, group with gangs, be loners and do not accomplish their school assignments. The treatment of EBD childrenat school still lack satisfactory and proper attention. This study was aimed at analyzing the difference in the effectiveness of classical music (Mozart) therapy and reciting (Surah Ar-Rahmah) therapy toward behavioral and emotional changes in children. The study design was quasi-experimental, design of pre and post test, with the sampling technique of probability sampling using consecutive sampling method, a sample of 34 children with EBD divided into two groups. Research instrument was standardized Strength and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ). Data analysis was using dependent T 2 test and independent T2 test for bivariate. Result of study showed significant differences in mean of EBD after given intervention of classical music (Mozart) in week 5 at 9.06, reciting (Surah Ar-Rahman) at 2.24, and the deviation mean score was 6.82 times, which means that reciting (Surah Ar-Rahman) therapy is 6-7 times faster in decreasing behavioral and emotional disorder of EBD children compared to Mozart classical music therapy. The suggestion is that reciting (Surah Ar-Rahmah) therapy is more effective in decreasing behavioral and emotional disorder in EBD children.
