Description
The objective of this research was to know positive and negative politeness strategies used communication in pekal community. The research design of this research used descriptive qualitative method. The instrument was table analysis about positive and negative politeness strategies from Brown and Levinson (1987) The results of this research showed that found positive politeness in pekal language communication between younger to the older person a) Use in-group identity using special or certain words, b) communication in offering, promising and permission. Communication between The same age, 3)communication in praising and caring, 4) communication in Offering and promising, 5) communication in joking. And Negative politeness in pekal language communication between younger to older person 6) communication in using phrases and sentences that have contextual meanings that are not ambiguous and different from their literal meanings speaker, 7) communication in using subjunctive words. Communication between The same age, 8) communication in using subjunctive words and 9) communication using Apologize. The writer suggested to the students reading this research, because can be a reference for discourse analysis subject matter and sociolinguistics.
