Description

This research was intended to observe and describe the analysis of move structure and verb tense in students’ thesis abstracts made by english graduates at UMB in academic year 2017. The objective of the research was to know the most frequent move and the use of verb tense in thesis abstracts made by english graduates at UMB in academic year 2017. In this research, the researcher used descriptive method. The result of research showed that the most frequent move of thesis abstracts made by english graduates at UMB in academic year 2017 was Method move, and the use of verb tense in thesis abstracts made by english graduates at UMB in academic year 2017 are : present tense (background), past tense (purpose), past tense (method), past tense, (result), and present tense (conclusion). From the result above the researcher give suggest : The writer suggest to students who take thesis to learn more about thesis abstract, about the move stucture in abstract, the verb tense that use in thesis abatracts, so the students can write thesis abstract correctly.
