Description
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kendala yang dihadapi mahasiswa dan kendala dominan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam Seminar Proposal Berbicara Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu. Desain penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 29 orang mahasiswa Program Studi Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu yang mempresentasikan seminar proposalnya pada bulan April 2020 - Juni 2020. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan lembar observasi observasi. Daftar periksa ini dirancang berdasarkan pertanyaan teori Gan (2012) yang terbagi dalam lima aspek; Jumlah Kosakata Terbatas, Sulit Menerapkan Aturan Tata Bahasa saat Berbicara, dan Tidak Sempurna Pelafalan dan Intonasi. Ada dua temuan dari penelitian ini; Pertama, kendala mahasiswa yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam berbicara Seminar Proposal Bahasa Inggris Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu adalah keterbatasan jumlah kosakata, sulit menerapkan aturan tata bahasa saat berbicara, belum sempurna pengucapan dan kendala intonasi saat berbicara. Kedua, kendala dominan yang dihadapi mahasiswa dalam berbicara Seminar Proposal Bahasa Inggris Mahasiswa Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu adalah keterbatasan jumlah kosakata. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, disarankan agar siswa setiap hari berlatih berbicara untuk meminimalisir kendala saat berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris khususnya dengan mengadakan Seminar Proposal.
