Description
The aim of the research is to know the types of iconic representation and the dominant icons in public places. The subject in this research take from public places in Bengkulu, these are the places : Fatmawati Airport, Bengkulu Hospital (RSUD), and Traditional Minggu Market. This research use descriptive qualitative research and use the theory from Yvonne Rogers (1989) about the types of iconic representation. The result of the research achieved that in Fatmawati airport dominant with the exemplar icon, Bengkulu hospital (RSUD) dominant with arbitrary icon, and the last Traditional Minggu Market dominant with resemblance icon. Hopefully this research use to develop understanding in semiotics especially iconic in public places and know about types of iconic use in public places. While for further research this research can be references regarding semiotics analysis and iconic representations.
