Description

The objectivesof this researchare to find out the types of reading miscueand to find out the dominant type of reading miscue found in the first semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The design of this study wasdescriptive method. The respondent of this study wasthe firstsemester students of English study program of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu who are enrolled reading subject in 2019/2020 Academic Year. There was only one class as the respondent of this research, it was class A with total number about 36 students. Since this research was a descriptive study, the researcher used table of checklist to find out the types of reading miscue based on Goodman et al (2005). There were two findingss of this research; (1) Types of reading miscue found in the first semester English students in University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu were subtitution, insertion, omission, correction, repetition, and hesitation. (2) The most dominant type of reading miscue found in the first semester English students in University of Muhammadiyah Bengkulu was subtitution.
