Description

The objectives of this research was to fid out the Cognitive Reading Strategies used by Fifth Semester Students of English Language Education Study Program in Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu Academic Year 2019/2020. This research was a descriptive research. Subject of the research was the whole students of the fifth semester of English Language Education Study Program of UMB Bengkulu Academic Year 2019/2020. The instruments that was used to collect the data in this study is questionnaire. The finding showed that from 10 strategies; Resourcing, Repetition, Grouping, Deduction, Imagery, Getting the idea quickly, Elaboration, Inference, Note-taking, and Sumarizing, there were three cognitive reading strategies that were dominantly used by the students in learning reading, they were :Resourcing, Repetition, and Imagery. The dominant strategy used by students was Imagery.
