A STUDY OF SCOPUS INDEX JOURNAL REFERENCES USED BY ENGLISH STUDENTS IN WRITING THESIS AT ENGLISH EDUCATION PROGRAM OF MUHAMMADIYAH UNIVERSITY OF BENGKULU

The aims of this research were to find out the scopus index journal references used by English students in thesis writing and to find out the most dominant scopus index journal used by English students in thesis writing at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in academic year 2018/2019. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative method. The object of this study was the references of Thesis that were written in the last page of a research paper by who graduated on October 2019. The total sample of students theses as the object of this research was 47 thesis references. Since this research is a descriptive study, the researcher used table of checklist to find out the scopus indexed journal references used by English Education Study Program students in writing thesis. There were five publications of scopus indexed journal of English Language Education based on ELE Publishing. The findings of this research showed that the scopus index journal references used by English students in thesis writing were Asian EFL Journal, Asian ESP Journal, TESOL International Journal, Linguistic Journal, and Journal of English as International Language. Moreover, the most dominant scopus index journal used by English students in thesis writing at Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in academic year 2018/2019 was Journal of English as International Language.
