ENGLISH STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION IN LEARNING ENGLISH

Description

The objective of this research was to know the English students'
perception of learning English at the English Education Program of UMB in the
academic year 2019/2020. The research design of this research was descriptive
qualitative. The data collected by using questionnaires adapted fromWright (2004)
from the Journal of Perceptions and Stereotypes of ESL. The result of this
research showed the students in the 6th semester and the 8th semester had some
components of perception in learning English. They were:(A) Work Ethic,(B)
Mental state (shy, quiet, serious), and (C) Mental state of motivation. This
research suggests to students expected to help students later to be more active in
learning English at the English Study Program of the Muhammadiyah University
of Bengkulu
