BLOOD PRESSURE DIFFERENCES BEFORE AND AFTER THE WORKERS EXPOSED BY NOISE IN RICE AND COFFEE MILLING IN KEPAHIANG REGENCY

Subject

Blood pressure, Noisy

Description

Based on the Attachment II of Minister of Health Decree No. 405 / Menkes / SK / XI / 2002, Noise Threshold value for industrial working environment with 8 hours exposure time is 85 dB. From 22 milling sites, each is measured 2 points. It is known that all locations at point 1 have a noise intensity value > 85 dB. Meanwhile, 6 locations at point 2 have a noise intensity <85 dB. Noise intensity > 85 dB can cause health problems and stress. Stress affects the nerve system which then affects the heart pulse that causes changes in blood pressure. This study aims to determine blood pressure differences before and after the workers exposed by noise in rice and coffee milling in Kepahiang Regency. This research was conducted in July 2017 with quantitative research and the research design used is pre experimental design with one group pretest posttest approach. The sampling technique used is total sampling, so that the research sample is all workers in the rice and coffee milling in Kepahiang Regency. The study used primary and secondary data by using Wil Coxon Signed Ranks Test data analysis. There were 22 workers at point 1 had an increase systolic blood pressure (39.29%), and 17 workers at point 2 did not have an increase Systolic blood pressure (30.36%). While for diastolic blood pressure, there were 14 workers at point 1 had an increase diastolic blood pressure (25%) and 18 workers point 2 did not have an increase diastolic blood pressure (30%). Based on statistical test of Wil Coxon Signed Ranks Test results, it is obtained that p = 0.000 < α (0.05) for workers’ systolic blood pressure at point 1, p = 0.000 <α (0.05) for workers’ systolic blood at point 2, p = 0.000 <α (0.05) for diastolic blood pressure at point 2, and p = 0.002 <α (0.05) for the worker's diastolic blood pressure at point 2. So there is a significant blood pressure difference before and after workers exposed by noise in rice and coffee milling in Kepahiang Regency. To reduce the risk caused by the noise, the business owners are expected to provide ear protect equipment for mandatory use of his workers while working.
