Description

Madrasas were originally developments from Islamic education institutions in surau/ mosques and Islamic boarding schools (Pesantren). There are two factors underlying the growth of madrasa in Indonesia, the factor of the response to Dutch colonial politics and the factor in the emergence of renewal of religious thought, namely with the emergence of the reform movement driven by Muslim intellectual figures in various regions and socio-religious organizations. Thanks to the political support of the Indonesian government with the issuance of joint ministerial decrees and the National Education System Law, it further strengthened the position of the madrasa as part of the national education system. Madrasa as a general educational institution characterized by Islam is a policy that requires that madrasa education is designed and directed to assist, guide, train, and teach and create an atmosphere so that students (graduates) become qualified Muslim human beings. In the sense of being able to develop life views, life attitudes and life skills that have Islamic perspective in the context of Indonesianness.
