Abstract
Law No. 20 Year 2003 on National Education System in Article 3, which states that the national education serves to develop the capability and shape the character and civilization of the nation's dignity in the context of the intellectual life of the nation. National education aims at developing the potential of students to become a man of faith and fear of God Almighty, noble, healthy, knowledgeable, skilled, creative, independent, and become citizens of a democratic and accountable. Development and character formation is believed to be necessary and important to be done by the school and its stakeholders to become a foothold in the implementation of character education in schools. The purpose of building character is basically encouraging the birth of children are good (perfect man). Growth and development of good character will encourage learners to grow with the capacity and commitment to do things the best and do everything right and have a purpose in life. Basic competence in the group's core competence is not the attitude to learners because competence is not taught, not memorized, not tested, but as a handbook for educators, that in teaching these subjects there are social messages contained in the spiritual and the material. Domain attitude associated with the formation of character. Character can be integrated in all subjects, including Indonesian. Indonesian learning has an important role in building the character of the students. Build and shape the character of the Indonesian learning requires an understanding of teachers as curriculum implementers and facilitators for students through learning activities in schools. A teacher not only act as a teacher, but he also must be able to be a role model, inspirator, motivator, and evaluators who were critical, innovative, and productive for learners, so that students not only have a good competence, but also has the favor character of being commendable.
