Description

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas strategi
membaca metakognitif dan aktivitas strategi membaca metakognitif yang dominan
digunakan oleh siswa bahasa Inggris dalam kelas membaca online. Subyek
penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa bahasa Inggris semester dua di Universitas
Muhammadiyah Bengkulu tahun pelajaran 2020/2021. Siswa tersebut terdiri dari
22 siswa. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Instrumen
penelitian berupa angket dan pertanyaan terbuka. Temuan dari penelitian ini, ada
tiga puluh aktivitas strategi membaca metakognitif yang digunakan oleh siswa
bahasa Inggris dari 10 aktivitas strategi pemecahan masalah, 10 aktivitas strategi
membaca global dan 10 aktivitas strategi membaca pendukung. Selain itu, aktivitas
dominan strategi membaca metakognitif yang digunakan oleh bahasa Inggris adalah
siswa menggunakan bahan referensi (misalnya kamus online, referensi online)
untuk membantu memahami apa yang mereka baca (SUPP), mereka menyesuaikan
kecepatan membaca online (PROB), mereka memiliki tujuan mengingat ketika
membaca online (GLOB), ketika teks online menjadi sulit, mereka membaca ulang
untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mereka (PROB), dan ketika membaca online,
siswa menerjemahkan dari bahasa Inggris ke bahasa asli (SUPP), siswa membaca
perlahan dan hati-hati untuk memastikan memahami apa yang mereka baca online
(PROB), mereka berpikir tentang apa yang mereka ketahui untuk memahami apa
yang mereka baca online (GLOB), para siswa memutuskan apa yang harus dibaca
dengan cermat atau apa yang harus diabaikan (GLOB), mereka mencoba menebak
apa isinya teks online adalah tentang ketika membaca (GLOB), mereka mencoba
untuk kembali ke jalur ketika mereka kehilangan konsentrasi (PROB), ketika
membaca online, mereka memikirkan informasi dalam bahasa Inggris dan bahasa
ibu (SUPP), siswa membayar lebih dekat perhatian pada apa yang mereka baca
(PROB), dan ketika teks menjadi sulit, mereka membaca dengan keras untuk
membantu mereka memahami apa yang mereka baca (SUPP).
