Description

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada perbedaan tipe harga diri yang dominan antara siswa pria dan wanita dan penyebab rendahnya harga diri siswa pada Program Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Muhammadiyah Bengkulu pada tahun akademik 2019/2020. Desain penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian komparatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 40 siswa yang terdiri dari 20 laki-laki dan 20 perempuan dari mahasiswa semester tiga program studi Bahasa Inggris UMB. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner FLSES oleh Badran a Hassan (2001) dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari beberapa jenis harga diri: keterampilan bahasa, penggunaan bahasa yang sebenarnya di kelas, hubungan di dalam kelas dan sikap terhadap bahasa, yang paling dominan adalah sikap dan skor keseluruhan adalah siswa laki-laki yang lebih tinggi dan siswa perempuan yang lebih rendah. Selanjutnya, ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara harga diri siswa pria dan wanita dalam belajar bahasa Inggris dengan uji-t dan perhitungan t-tabel (6,06> 2,02) bahwa H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima dan penyebab rendahnya harga diripada siswa yang paling dominan adalah kecemasan
