Description

The purpose of this research is to investigate the pronunciation strategies applied by English students in learning English pronunciation. This research attempts to answer the following research questions : (1) what are the types of pronunciation strategies applied by the English students in learning English Pronunciation?, (2) what the dominant strategies applied by the English students in learning English pronunciation. The participants of this research are 51 students who are still in fourth semester in English Education Program, Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The data were collected through questionnaire. The major finding of this research are (1) The strategies applied by the participants of this research are based on the pronunciation strategies proposed by Calka (2011). From the six strategies were usually applied by the participants, cognitive strategies is the strategies whose the tactics is mostly applied to support the participants in learning English pronunciation. (2) By applied the pronunciation strategies to facilitating the procces of learning to make the students more comfort and enjoy the learning. So, it can help the students to master and developing pronunciation ability and achievement.
