Description

Reading is a process that is carried and used by readers who want to get the message delivered by the author through the medium of words or written language. With good ability in reading, students can increase their score in reading comprehension achievement. Reading is very important and one of some sections skill in English. The purpose of this research to investigate and describe the correlation between students’ academic intrinsic motivation and reading comprehension achievement at English Education Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in Academic Year 2019/2020. The population of this research is the firstand third semester students of English Language Education Study Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu in Academic Year 2019/2020.The total population was 82 students and sample was82 students. The instruments areQuestionnaireand reading achievement from lecturer. The result of this research showedthat there is weak correlation between students’ academic intrinsic motivation andreading comprehension achievement of English Language Education Study Program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu was 0, 03 and was include very lowcategory.Based on the result of the research above, the researcher suggest that the students should improve their reading ability and more actively for supporting their reading motivation and reading achievement.
