The Role of the Police and Families in the Efforts to Prevent Crime Carrying
Sharp Weapons Used by Children in Bengkulu City
(Case Study of Bengkulu City Police)

ABSTRACT


Recently, one of the crimes that is very disturbing to the public is the crime of carrying sharp weapons used by children in Bengkulu city. There are various kinds of crime, for example the crime of murder, severe abuse, theft with weighting, kidnapping and so on. This crime case with a sharp weapon is certainly very disturbing to the public. This study aims to determine the role of the police and family in criminal offenses carrying sharp weapons used by children in Bengkulu city. The researcher used empirical research. The data sources used were primary and secondary data. The results of the research and discussion can be concluded that: 1. The role of the police and family in efforts to deal with criminal acts carrying sharp weapons used by children in Bengkulu city has not maximally enforced the law in accordance with legislation. The family should be the first forum in shaping character children in order to lead them to the right ways. The family are also not maximal in providing education and knowledge to children about something that is prohibited. The police conduct an investigation process, securing evidence and then requesting witness testimony. Police officers followed up on reports of alleged crimes carrying sharp weapons by conducting investigation. If the investigation is seen as sufficient evidence to conduct an investigation, the police conduct an investigation to thoroughly investigate a criminal case carrying a sharp weapon used by the child. 2. The inhibiting factor in the handling of criminal acts carrying sharp weapons used by the children, namely the difficulty of obtaining evidence and arresting criminal offenders carrying sharp weapons because many people are still reluctant to report the criminal acts to the police. Besides, the children often run away for avoiding the patrol police. The habit factor that is carried out by the children carrying sharp weapons with reasons to guard themselves. It was found that the address and identity of the offender carrying sharp weapons were incorrect or not in accordance with the facts in the field. They are the children who do not have an identity such as a child's birth certificate. Children under the age of 12 cannot be processed. They are returned to the family / child protection commission. It is also the children who are mentally retarded.
