Description
This research was a descriptive study, the aimed of this study to find out what are the causes students’ difficulties in pronouncing triphthong in third semester at English education program of Muhammadiyah University of Bengkulu. The subjects of the research was the third semester of students of Muhammadiyah university of Bengkulu in academic year 2019/2020 that consisted of 52 students The data were collected through oral test and interview and were analyze descriptive qualitative. The result of the research showed that the students of Muhammadiyah university of Bengkulu difficult to pronounce, The English triphthong sound which difficult to pronounce by the students are: /aʊe/,/aɪə/,/ɔɪə/,/eɪə/, and əʊə/. The cause of students’ difficulties in pronouncing triphthong is interference error.
