This study aims to determine the program ofcity without slum (kotaku) in Suka
merindu subdistrict of Bengkulu City. The method used was the descriptive with
thequalitative approach. There were 7 informants taken using purposive sampling
technique. The data was analyzed through reduction, display, inference and
verification. The results showed that the Program of Kotaku in Sukamerindu
subdistrict of Bengkulu City, which focuses on RT 5, 13, and 14 is a house
renovation program and drainage improvement and waste management
conditions. This program is implemented because the condition of the residents'
houses are unfit for habitation and because many drainages are damaged, causing
the environmental conditions to become slum. Suggestions to the Bengkulu City
Government, should be able to continue to run this Kotaku program, so that other
areas that have not been touched also get the realization of this program. The hope
is that slum areas in urban areas can be reduced. To the Head of neighborhood
unit (RT) and Community Leaders, they should be able to provide community
data that really deserves a house renovation, so that in the following years it can
be realized. In addition, the Head of RT and Community Leaders should be able to
work together to provide understanding to the community to maintain the
drainage that has been built by the Kotaku program and not to litter.
