Description

The objective of this research was to identify and describe the rhetorical used by English students in speaking for debate classes. This research was designed by using descriptive method. The subject of this research was 62 English students fourth semesterclass Academic Years 2018/2019. The instrument used in this research was English students in transcript and form analysis of Aristotle in Kennedy (1994:144). The result of the research showed that from 62 the transcript of English students in speaking fordebate classes that there were three rhetorical used by English students in their argument, namely:logical proof(logos), appeal to human character(ethos) andappeal to the emotional (pathos).The dominant of rhetorical used by students is logical proof(logos). Based on the result above the researcher give suggestion for the students: this research could be as information to understand about rhetorical namely, logos, ethos, and pathosin debating class because rhetorical use in debating will help the students to convey their argument and for the next researcher: the next researcher can analysis the rhetorical using different theory&objectand also can be reference for the next researcher in their research.
